UAR 501 assault rifle replica by APS is an innovative construction equipped with a special hybrid gearbox called "APS Hybrid Gearbox". The abbreviation UAR stands for Urban Assault Rifle, that is a model designed with MOUT (urban combat) and CQB (close quarter combat) character scenarios in mind. Compact design and high manoeuvrability of the rifle were achieved due to its bull-pup construction. The insides contain and efficient, 385 mm outer barrel while the full length of the replica is barely 645 mm.

Practically the entire receiver was made from reinforced polymer. Thick stock pad was made from rubber. The replica features a long, top, RIS 22 mm mounting rail as well as three handguard rails. This allows to mount a wide array of additional attachments on the replica, starting with optical sights, through grips and tactical lighting and ending up with laser sights. 

The replica is incredibly functional - it features three magazine release buttons: one at the magwell and two near the pistol grip - they can be used with an index finger. The fire mode selector is double-sided and the charging handle can also be operated from both sides, which allows for easy operation to both left- and right-handed users. Once the charging handle has been pulled back, the user can access the Hop-Up chamber. The bolt-catch release button is located at the top of the stock.

The battery is stored inside the stock, under the stock pad. The pistol grip is hollow and there is room inside of it for 2 spare 123A batteries. The replica comes with two Hi-Cap magazines with a capacity of up to 190 BBs.

The new V.3 “APS Hybrid” gearbox constitutes the heart of UAR 501 replica. Designed and manufactured in an innovative and most user-friendly way, according to comparative tests conducted by manufacturer it is 33% more effective when it comes to energy consumption than a standard system. It is equipped with a Fast Spring Release system that allows the user to change the muzzle velocity of the replica without having to open up the gearbox. The set includes 2 main springs: one allows to achieve a muzzle velocity of ~320 FPS, the other ~350 FPS.

Reinforced gears were mounted on 7mm, metal bearings. The electric system consists of a silver-plated, low-resistance wiring that provides stable operation of the circuit, while the replica’s motor has a metal core. The cylinder and semi-precision internal barrel with a diameter of 6.05 mm were made from stainless steel. 

A reasonable for an assault rifle replica muzzle velocity of ~350 FPS  together with an optimal internal barrel length and a decreased diameter make this replica ideal for assault operations and medium- and close-ranged combat with high efficiency and focus.
